My Story

Hello, my name is Evan Reister and I am a 20-year-old photographer from northern Michigan.

How it all Started

Ever since a young age, I’ve been involved with nature and wildlife. Growing up in Northern Michigan only helped fuel this passion, with endless bodies of water and woodlands that go unbroken for miles. When I was 14 I built a bird feeder and placed it in the backyard, little did I know that this would spark my interest in bird watching. When I saw a new species arrive at the feeder I would rush to take a picture of it with my Family's point-and-shoot camera. I quickly outgrew that camera and purchased my first DSLR, a Nikon D5600. It wasn’t long after that the COVID-19 pandemic hit and everything shut down. I was a sophomore in high school at the time and when school closed for two weeks I spent every minute of that time in the woods. I used this time to teach myself manual photography. learning this skill has led to my ability to capture the images that are displayed. Currently, in addition to photography, I am a full-time student at Northern Michigan University studying environmental policy and sustainability.

A highlight of 2021-
